A sermon begins long before a pastor stands before a congregation and reads a sacred biblical passage. It starts with the preacher’s preparation, prayer and reflection about what the passage meant to Christians centuries ago and means to us today.

A sermon is an invitation to worshippers to come along on that journey and make their own discoveries about God. It is an invitation to move beyond old vantage points to new perspectives, to wrestle with the presence of God.
