Worship is the church's primary reason for being, the heart and soul of who we are and what we do at Historic St. George’s.
Our services blend the rich tradition of classic Methodist worship and music with contemporary liturgy, prayers, songs and preaching.
Sunday worship begins at 10 AM, lasting about an hour; dress is casual … come as you are!
We praise God with music, explore the sacred story in the scriptures and gather at font and table. We share joys and concerns in prayer for others and ourselves. We extend the greeting of peace to all, break the bread and share the cup, opening ourselves to the outpouring of God’s love amidst us, through us, and to the world around us. We leave refreshed, renewed, strengthened and challenged by being together with God and one another.
We celebrate Holy Communion each week. Everyone is welcome. We come to the Lord’s Table, not our own. Wherever you find yourself on the journey of faith, whatever your church membership, status or background, there is a place for you at the Lord’s Table.
We believe Holy Communion expresses the great promise of God’s unconditional love and encourages us to demonstrate that love toward one another.
Music plays an important role in our worship. A variety of talented soloists from the congregation and community share their gifts at each service.
We enjoy a social time with food and conversation at coffee hour after services.
