Historic St. George’s is a welcoming, active, growing congregation of people at various points along the journey of faith.
Surrounded by so many "old" churches here in Old City, we are much more than a shrine to the past. We are part of the resurgent community life of one of Philadelphia’s most exciting neighborhoods.
Our worship and programs seek to bring to life what it means to discover and do Jesus’ bidding in the world today. Rooted in United Methodist heritage, we are grounded in a theology of love and inclusion, a faith that seeks practical experience and a passion for putting God’s love to work through our lives.
Within the bounds of the Independence Hall National Park, “the most historic square mile in America,” we’re delighted to welcome thousands of visitors from around the world.
We are one of the more than 500 churches in the Eastern PA Conference of the United Methodist Church, Peggy A. Johnson, Resident and Presiding Bishop.
Now in our 242nd year of mission and ministry, this is our watchword: Historic St. George’s: A Place in History. A Path to the Future. Join us for the Journey.
