Follow us on:

What do I wear if I come to church?

Come as you are. We’re pretty casual here, not so much a jacket and tie, fancy dress church (though some dress up). We’re easy and relaxed (jeans to business casual at the dressiest) just like we like to be with each other.

May I receive Holy Communion?

United Methodist, Wesleyan tradition about receiving Holy Communion is called “Open Table” meaning all are welcome.

Each and every Sunday you’ll hear the Pastor say something like: “This is the Lord’s Table, not our own. All are welcome to come and receive. You need not be a member of this or any church. Come, receive the bread of heaven and the outpouring of God’s love to awaken and sustain you as a follower of Jesus Christ.”

May I visit the museum when I visit the church on Sunday?

Yes indeed! It is quite common for visitors from around the neighborhood, country or world to be attending services at this landmark church. The museum and church building are available for perusing before and after services. Tours are available after services, best arranged in advance thru the church office.

Should I bring an offering? How much should it be?

The most marvelous and acceptable offering anyone can bring to worship is themselves, come to services seeking God with an open heart and mind. At that point we’ll trust the figures to the Spirit’s urging. So yes, you should bring an offering. YOU, open and attentive to God’s leading and the Spirit’s stirring.

How long is the service?

The service is anywhere from 60-75 minutes long.

What’s the service like? Contemporary, Traditional? Blended?

St. George’s liturgical style is best described as blended, a mixture of the best of traditional United Methodist worship, music and inspiration along with hymns, prayers and preaching contemporary in its language imaging and expression.
